Day |
| The wedding was at the Hinman
house in Seneca. Sara wore a turquoise knit dress and Chuck wore a
suit. This photo was taken just before they left for their honeymoon in
Tulsa. From left to right are Gleason and Edna Rinehart Hukill, Chuck
and Sara, and Polly and Jim Hinman. It is part of Hukill family lore that Chuck's brother Denzil, who acted as wedding photographer on the big day, produced a series of very dark photos that were more or less unusable. Good thing he stuck to his day job... and that Sara let him live to do it! Legend has it that Sara's father, Jim, told her mother Polly to go out and buy Sara a girdle for her wedding day, since no daughter of his was going to walk down the aisle with her fanny shaking! It was all in good fun. But Jim and Polly, although they liked Chuck a lot, fretted that by marrying so young, Sara would never finish college. She showed them. Both Chuck and Sara would go on to get master's degrees in education-related disciplines. |
