From 1990 until 2004, Chuck and Sara took a run at the Guiness Record for Serial Relocations by Non-Nomadic Peoples. They moved to Polacca, Arizona, on the Hopi Reservation to teach school, then transferred to Rocky Ridge on the Navajo Reservation for a year. After that the two began their eastward migration. They lived in Daingerfield, Texas, to be near Sara's mother for several years. In 1995 they moved to Bristol, Virginia, in the Appalachian Mountains. Then it was on to Moorefield, West Virginia, and finally, in 2004, to Martinsberg, a town in the far northeastern corner of the state, an hour and a half from Gretchen's family in Washington, DC. A nice thing happened in Martinsberg: Mike and Anita Hinman, along with their daughter Paula Michelle and her six children, moved to town in 2004. They went back to Texas in 2006, but in the meantime it was a treat for all involved to have family nearby. "That's the only time in our whole married life we've ever lived in the same town," Anita says. "And we lived like a mile or so from them. So we did stuff together all the time. We would go to Bob Evans and eat after church. We didn't really do a lot of stuff, but we would just be together, you know? We went down to Montpelier and  Monticello and all that when we were moving back. And that was a lot of fun. "I know Michelle really enjoyed having Sara and Chuck there, and her kids enjoyed having them around. Chuck tutored Jeffrey, kept him from failing fifth grade. I don't know what's gonna keep him from failing sixth grade!"
